INTERIOR DESIGNER, PROPERTY EXPERT & DEVELOPER

ABOUT

Marta de Sousa is an interior designer, property developer and a TV & Radio property expert.

Marta designs, builds, refurbishes and redevelops homes, and is a TV & radio property commentator and broadcaster.

For 10 years she has run her own international property development company LUX Reality, which specialises in intelligent design, with a focus on refurbishing and redeveloping properties across London. In all her projects she combines traditional skills with cutting edge techniques, to create environmentally conscious homes, equipped with the latest technology.

As LUX REALITY grew, Marta noticed a shift in the way people were choosing to live, leading her to found ONE HOUSE ®, a global co-living community for the future.

Marta regularly comments on property related news for both the trade and national press, on TV, radio and in print including: BBC News, Sky News, ITV News and BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 5, LBC and The Times, The Sunday Telegraph & The Independent.

She has also featured as a property expert on BBC’s Panorama and Channel 4’s Dispatches programmes.

From an early age Marta has known her way around a building site, having grown up surrounded by the family property business. Extensive first-hand experience, combined with a clear vision led Marta to found her own company, LUX Reality.

Never afraid to speak her mind, Marta relishes the challenge of managing various teams of contractors and builders, along with architects and engineers. In a male dominated industry, she strives to change the gender imbalance.

Marta believes in a world built by both men and women and is a champion of a diverse construction workforce. She founded Built by Her, a government backed campaign that aims to challenge stereotypes, changing the perception that the construction industry is solely a male world, inaccessible to women.

Her sound knowledge of the property market stems from years of experience and from having worked as an expert for both Bloomberg News as a reporter, and for CNBC the business news channel.

Unlike an estate agent, Marta puts her money where her mouth is, studying the market extensively, especially in the current climate. Not only does she know what needs to be done to sell a property, but also how to execute it.

Marta de Sousa's properties have won various international awards and regularly feature in magazines, newspapers and online. She has also featured alongside her properties on various property programs, including BBC One's Homes Under the Hammer and BBC Three's House Hunting.
